Barker on the fly
Authentic Outdoor Content and Commercial Photography
Hey! Nice to meet you, I’m Dylan:
Dylan Barker is a commercial photographer, videographer, producer, and outdoorsman based in Bozeman, Montana. His work is rooted in the outdoor industry, creating photography and films for brands across hunting, fishing, apparel, conservation, and outdoor lifestyle.
With experience across the full creative process, Dylan works beyond the role of photographer or cinematographer. He is involved in concept development, pre-production, casting, location planning, production, directing, and post-production, allowing him to take projects from an early idea through final delivery. His background in marketing and large-scale production gives him an understanding of not only how imagery should look, but how it needs to function within a broader campaign.
Before working full-time behind the camera, Dylan spent years immersed in the outdoor world, including time as a professional fly fishing guide. That experience continues to shape the way he works today. He understands the environments, people, products, and unpredictable conditions that come with producing outdoors, and is comfortable building shoots around real experiences rather than forcing them into a traditional production environment.
Originally from South Carolina, Dylan spent several years working throughout Florida and the Southeast before relocating to Montana. His work now spans everything from saltwater flats and Southern hunting camps to western rivers, backcountry landscapes, ranches, and mountains. Fishing remains a major part of his background, but his focus has expanded into the broader outdoor, hunting, western, and adventure industries.
Dylan’s approach is documentary-minded and grounded in authenticity. Rather than simply placing a product into a beautiful location, he works to build believable scenes and experiences around the people who actually use it. His photography and films are cinematic without feeling overly manufactured, balancing polished commercial production with the imperfect moments that make outdoor experiences feel real.
Depending on the project, Dylan can operate as an individual photographer or filmmaker, build and lead a small production crew, or work alongside an existing agency or brand team. Projects range from individual campaign shoots and seasonal photo libraries to short-form video, commercial productions, branded films, and larger multi-day productions.
His client work includes brands such as Realtree Outdoors, Free Fly Apparel, Poncho Outdoors, Columbia PFG, Duck Head, Costa Sunglasses, Nautilus Fly Reels, Cayo Boatworks, and others across the outdoor industry.
Conservation is also an important part of Dylan’s work. He has collaborated with organizations including Tampa Bay Waterkeeper and Captains for Clean Water, and much of his personal and documentary work centers around the waters, wildlife, public lands, and outdoor traditions that make these industries possible.
At the center of everything is a simple goal: create commercial work that feels like the real thing.
Most days, that means Dylan is somewhere outside with a camera close by, whether that is following a hunting camp through the woods, running a boat across a flat, hiking into the mountains, or building a production around the people and places that define life outdoors.
Dylan is available for travel for both in-state and international shoots and regularly works on location in coastal flats, river systems, backcountry environments, and remote destinations.
